Re: World Cup 2010

Not the most exciting game, but Spain were awesome - Germany probably wondered if there was even a ball at times.

Re: World Cup 2010

Spain looked very good.  I honestly think if it wasn't for German height on defense the margin would have been more.  As it is, Spain looked very strong against the team that had looked the best all tourney.

And we get a first time winner!

Match of the tournament when it doesn't matter of course. Was hoping Suarez would get the winner.

Re: World Cup 2010

Kind of the "what if" match, with both Suarez and Mueller back.  Too bad Uruguay's goalie had such a bad match.

Ugly - but the best team won.

Re: World Cup 2010

If Holland had won after NOT getting a man sent off for the boot to the chest...ugh.

Glad Spain won, but it wasn't pretty.

VERY glad it didn't go to PKs as a 0-0 draw.  What an awful way to decide a winner that would have been.

Re: World Cup 2010

I see the referee getting vilified (the Dutch coach was whining he didn't send off Puyol?!) but he was put in an impossible position. He could have sent off 2-3 Dutch players in the first half but then he would have been remembered as the ref who ruined a final - Holland came to foul which is sad with all the talent in that team. Spain certainly did it the hard way with four 1-0 victories in the knock out games.

Hopefully going to see the first post-WC England game at Wembley next month (friendly against Hungary), should be interesting to see what kind of reaction they get and who is still in the team.

I felt like I owed it to queen and country. The game was pretty mediocre with a couple of great goals, the new Wembley stadium is awesome though.
